Build Something
Read This Week: Exodus 37
Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood—two and a half cubits long, a cubit and a half wide, and a cubit and a half high. He overlaid it with pure gold, both inside and out, and made a gold molding around it. He cast four gold rings for it and fastened them to its four feet. – Exodus 37:1-3 NIV
Exodus 37 details the construction of sacred items for the Tabernacle that we were introduced to in chapter 36. Bezalel, the adept craftsman, is at the center of the work, and his efforts show us more than just a record of furniture-building and artisan skill. It is a testimony of the precision, devotion, and beauty of obedience to God’s commands and following Him according to the design He lays out.
Bezalel, who was chosen by God and filled with His Spirit (Exodus 31:1-5), was not merely constructing objects. He was fulfilling divine instructions with excellence and passion to serve the Lord. Each piece he made was crafted according to the detailed blueprint given to Moses, showing that God values faithfulness in the most minor details. The Ark of the Covenant, the Table of Showbread, the Golden Lampstand, and the Altar of Incense are not just ancient artifacts but sacred symbols of God’s presence and provision.
The Ark, overlaid with pure gold and adorned with cherubim, was the physical representation of God’s earthly throne. The Table of Showbread symbolizes God’s ongoing love and attention to the needs of His people, emphasizing our need for dependence on Him. The Golden Lampstand provided light in the holy place, representing the guidance and illumination of truth and the guidance of God’s presence in our lives. The Altar of Incense signified the prayers of the people rising to heaven, a beautiful reminder of the connection between God and His people that we can experience daily.
Just like the last chapter of our study, we see that excellence is a spiritual thing. Bezalel’s craftsmanship was meticulous, showing that work, when done with diligence and faithfulness, is worship. No matter what we attempt or are called to, we should strive for excellence as a reflection of God’s heart and character.
Every measurement and material used aligned with God’s instructions. This shows that obedience to God’s Word, even in what seems like minor details, leads to something greater than we can foresee in our finite thinking and plans. It is not about personal preference or the ideas we have laid out but about submitting to Father God’s divine wisdom to fulfill a greater purpose. We often want to improvise or take shortcuts, but true fulfillment comes in following Jesus’ design.
Bezalel was filled with the Spirit to accomplish the task ahead. Likewise, when God calls us to something, He always provides the necessary skills, gifting, resources, and pathway to fulfill it. This example should encourage us in times of doubt, knowing that God does not send us into assignments unprepared. He supplies the wisdom, strength, and perseverance needed to accomplish His mission.
The items constructed in Exodus 37 were meant to encourage worship and reverence. We are challenged to consider how we create sacred spaces in our own lives, whether in our homes, workplaces, or churches, to keep our focus on God. It asks: do we cultivate an environment where worship and prayer are priorities, or do distractions take over? Just as the Israelites designated holy objects, we can also establish discipline, practices, and places that draw us closer to God.
As we reflect on God’s word in this Week in the Life, we should consider how we approach our own work and responsibilities. Are we diligent and faithful, knowing that even the smallest tasks can be an act of worship? Are we aligning our actions with God’s instructions, trusting that obedience leads to His success and more significant outcomes?
We should think and pray about how we use our God-given skills and if we steward them wisely and dedicate them to something meaningful instead of wasting them or underutilizing them. Like Bezalel, we all have a role in building something that glorifies God – whether it’s a physical creation, a ministry, a business, or an act of service. May we use our God-given abilities to build something that honors the Lord, demonstrating excellence, obedience, and devotion in all we do.
Exodus Chapter 37 Verse 1
BEZALEL MADE The ark of acacia wood–two cubits and a half was the length of it, a cubit and a half, the breadth of it and a cubit and a half the height of it.

This week in Exodus chapter 37 I got a song
His presence
Let’s come together to worship our Lord let’s come together to worship our Lord praising singing we are in the presence of the Lord. We are in the presence of the Lord. We are in the presence of our Lord his spirit, lives in us so let’s show others his light though us showing his blessings his peace his kindness his wonderful compassion. Let’s bring hope to others standing in the presence of the Lord, standing in the presence of the Lord Shining bright being the light for our Lord being the light for our Lord, Amen
God loves when we’re faithful willing to serve him being the light for others because we have the presence of our Lord amen
Exodus 37:1 Bezalel made the ark [of the covenant] of acacia wood—it was two and a half cubits long, and one and a half cubits wide, and one and a half cubits high.
The Meeting Place: The Ark of the Covenant
The Ark of the Covenant was the most sacred item in the tabernacle, representing God’s presence among His people. It contained the stone tablets of the Law, later on a jar of manna, and Aaron’s rod. Covered by the Mercy Seat, it symbolized God’s throne, where He dwelled among the Israelites, leading and guiding them wherever they went.
The Ark wasn’t just an object—it was a powerful sign that God was going before His people, showing His strength, guidance, and love. It was a reminder that He desired fellowship with them, that He delighted in meeting with them. And the same is true for us today.
We no longer carry a physical Ark, because through Jesus, God’s presence now dwells within His people. The New Testament tells us, “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16). Just as the Israelites carried the Ark everywhere they traveled, we carry His presence in our hearts wherever we go.
This truth should inspire us! It means we bring God’s peace, love, and power into every situation. He is with us at all times, and He loves spending time with us—just as much as He loves it when we desire to spend time with Him.
Let’s grow in awareness of His presence every day, knowing that we can talk with our Father at any moment. What a gift it is to have His Holy Spirit dwelling in us and He is omnipresent. You can read psalm 139
Thank You, Father God. Thank You, Jesus. Thank You, Holy Spirit.
Shining God’s Light: The Golden Lampstand (Exodus 37)
The golden lampstand in the tabernacle teaches us that we depend on God’s light for guidance. Just as the priests tended the lamps, keeping them burning continually with pure oil, we are called to tend to our spiritual lives—staying filled with the Holy Spirit and His presence. The oil represents the Spirit, and we are filled through Scripture, prayer, and time spent with God.
In a world where many do not follow God, we are called to shine His light wherever we go. Jesus said, “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). Our lives may be the only Bible some people ever read. Through love and truth, we help set people free. We bring hope where there is despair and shine light where there is darkness.
God is looking for people who will partner with Him. He has blessed each of us with unique gifts—not for ourselves, but to be a light and a blessing to others. When someone is lost in the darkness and cannot find their way, we have the privilege of being that light, reflecting Jesus through our words, actions, and love.
You are a lamp you’re God”s light.
. You carry God’s presence within you. So go out and shine for Him!
Did you know that as a born-again Christian, you are a living sanctuary? A mobile church. We are the church. The church is not an organization or a building—it is God’s people. We are His temple, His ministers, carrying His presence wherever we go. We bring God to people, and for those who respond, we are part of bringing people to God. We serve as a bridge between the two—carrying His light into the world and drawing others into His presence.
If you don’t always feel like God’s temple or His minister, I understand. I didn’t always feel that way either. Many times, I have to rely on the truth rather than my emotions. It’s crucial to know who we are in Christ, to grow spiritually, and to develop both our gifts and our practical talents for God’s purposes.
1. God chooses to fill His sanctuary—His church—with His presence to dwell among His people.
2. God poured Himself into human flesh—Jesus—who is the fulfillment of both the sanctuary and the law.
3. Because of Christ, we are made sons and daughters of God. He makes us living sanctuaries, pouring His Spirit into us—so that we can be like Him.
We are not just followers; we are carriers of His presence. Through us, the world encounters God.

Exodus 37
God is saying to you and me.
Reminds that we are to serve God with excellence and offer our gifts to him for his glory and others. Our worship of God should be done with reference. Just as the community of Israel worked together to construct the Tabernacle, as we the church is called to work together of God‘s kingdom.
What that means to me.
It teaches us that God is a God of order in holiness, and he desires to dwell among us in a way that reflects his glory through precise construction of the Tabernacle, God also shows us the importance of obedience and reference. As believers, we are to approach God with respect, honoring his presence in our lives to always serve God with all our heart, and with the talent he has given us.
