Unimpressed

Read This Week: Exodus 7

The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water. Blood was everywhere in Egypt. But the Egyptian magicians did the same things by their secret arts, and Pharaoh’s heart became hard; he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said. Instead, he turned and went into his palace, and did not take even this to heart. – Exodus 7:21-23 NIV

Exodus 7 is one of those chapters we’ve seen so often in our study of the Old Testament. It prominently highlights God’s ultimate control over events and leaders. It reassures us that the Father is not limited in any way in the scope of His sovereignty and power. He is not deterred by people’s whims, choices, or refusal to acknowledge Him. He is not overwhelmed by wickedness, atrocity, and the oppression that can sometimes be prevalent on Earth. He rules over everything, and the Lord will enact His supernatural will no matter the circumstances in the natural world. God’s authority and impressiveness are prominent in this chapter, as shown by how He works through Moses and Aaron in their second confrontation with Pharoah.

Verse 7 says Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh. As we already know, God appointed Moses and Aaron as His spokespeople to confront Pharaoh and command him to release the Israelites. To validate their mission, God empowered Moses and Aaron to perform miraculous signs, beginning with the transformation of Aaron’s staff into a serpent. Aaron’s staff becomes a serpent before Pharaoh, demonstrating God’s power (v. 10). However, Pharaoh is unimpressed, and his magicians replicate the sign, hardening Pharaoh’s heart further.

God then turns it up a level in His demonstration of power. He tells Moses that Pharaoh’s heart is unyielding and refuses to let the people go. He tells Moses and Aaron to confront Pharaoh and Egypt’s leaders on the bank of the Nile River and tell them that by striking the water with his staff and turning it to blood, they will know that I am the Lord (v. 17). So Moses and Aaron take the staff and strike the water of the Nile turning it into blood. The fish in the water all die, the river begins to stink from all the fish dying, and the Egyptians cannot drink the water. This plague devastates Egypt’s primary water source and signifies the beginning of God’s judgment on them. Yet again, Pharoah is unimpressed and has his sorcerers perform the same act as he hardens his heart again toward Yahweh and His messengers.

This passage teaches us so much for our week in the life. Just as Moses and Aaron were called to recognize and act under God’s authority, we must acknowledge God’s sovereignty and authority in our daily journeys. This recognition can guide our decisions, actions, and the way we represent Christ to others. We seek and worship the Lord as impressive in His power and glory and not look to be impressive in ourselves. Like Pharaoh, people are not often drawn to Jesus because of the remarkable things we do but will be moved by our submission and love for the amazing God we serve.

Despite initial setbacks and Pharaoh’s resistance, Moses and Aaron continued their mission. Their perseverance encourages us to remain strong in our faith, even when faced with challenges and when people are unimpressed by our message, actions, and proclamation of God’s word. On this same point, Pharaoh’s hardened heart is a cautionary tale about the dangers of resisting God’s will. It prompts us to examine our hearts and attitudes towards the Scriptures and what the Lord commands us to do and be.

Our trust in Father God will strengthen us and increase our faith in His ability to intervene in our lives and the world. This devotion is what He desires no matter what takes place on our paths or how unimpressed others are about the gospel. The Lord calls us to be faithful, not impressive.

    Exodus Chapter 7 Verse 6
And Moses and Aaron did so, as the Lord commanded them.

    ~Zealousy~

    God Is Saying To Me:
My child, To complete a task for me, do so promptly and obediently. Commit to the task at hand with your whole heart, enthusiastic, fully engaged and ready to perform energetically.

    What This Means To Me:
    1. To serve with your whole heart, do so leaving resistance and thoughts of inadequacies behind.
    2. Acknowledge that God is supreme, all knowing and worthy of praise and honor. He is our creator!
    3. Heed God’s direction because He wants us to obey Him completely, doing so with enthusiasm, cheerfulness and high energy in pursuit of God’s call.
    4. We must always acknowledge God’s supreme existence, knowing our place in the hierarchy of existence. For God, allowing him to be The sovereign God that he is.

Thank you God for being the supreme Father that you are to all your children! Thank you for teaching us to be excited for you. I love you! ❤️

Exodus 7: 6 And Moses and Aaron did so; just as the Lord commanded them, so they did.
Exodus7:13 Yet Pharaoh’s heart was hardened and he would not listen to them, just as the Lord had said.

Do you ever feel like, I hope I don’t have to go through this for a long time?
Or, I hope they listen so they don’t have to go through all this pain and suffering?

Sometimes there is a process. It doesn’t happen as quickly as you would like it to happen.
People can have a fear of change.
Pharaoh did not want to hear that he had to do something else in his life, like letting the people go. I don’t know if he made it into heaven only God knows.
For me God has a mission for me,
I have been chosen to help people to know God, lead them to give their whole hearts to Jesus so they can have a relationship with Father God, Jesus and His Holy Spirit.
I’m thankful that I get too be apart of helping people. Sometimes I may feel like I may not be qualified to do what God is asking me to do, but I do it because I have learned over the years that God is with me and he will help me and sometimes I don’t know what the outcome is, but God knows and that’s what counts.
And we never know how big it is to share with someone what God is saying, because it’s always going to be good for them if they will listen and respond to what God is saying.
so never give up even if it looks like they’re not listening, because in the end, it could be good if they listen!
    God was saying to me
my daughter, you have been chosen, sometimes it can be hard to help someone because it looks like they’re not listening, but I know what someone has to go through before. They will have a change of heart. It is hard watching them when they’re not listening, but keep praying, and do as I say because you’re growing and they’re growing and a lot of times it is a process so keep praying for others to not have a fear of change .
What this means to me is I don’t know the ending in anything unless God shows me. I do know that God is with me, and he will help me to know what to do and say and what not to do and say.
The most important thing is we know we are called, chosen to do something , listen and obey because God has a purpose and we need to trust him in his plans because they are all good.

Thank you father God that I get to be a part of helping people to join the family and to help them to know you and be a part of loving on people for you!❤️

Did you know that one of the greatest benefits we have as Christians is our direct access to God? This means we enjoy two-way communication with Him: we can talk with God and listen to Him as He talks with us. We can ask questions, and God guides us on what to do and say.

Jesus paid the price for us, tearing the veil so we could have direct access to the Father through the Son, by the Holy Spirit.

Many Christians fail to take full advantage of this access, primarily due to a lack of understanding and training.

I am learning to interact with our Father in every area of life. An interactive relationship with the Lord is a significant reason why Jesus came, and it’s one of the greatest benefits we have as Christians.

Additionally, we benefit by never having to be alone and we can always receive God’s help along the way. We experience this through our direct access to God and through others as they interact with God on our behalf.

    1. We have direct access to God, which is one of the greatest benefits of being a Christian.

    2. We have access to God through other people, which is why God encourages us to engage with other Christians.

    3. Amazing things happen when we listen to God and follow His instructions, both directly and through others.

This is what I got from God in Exodus 7. “My believers are like letters written by Jesus that the whole world reads.” (2nd Corinthians 3:2-3) (Enduring word) People who won’t look to Me, look to you; those who who won’t read the Bible, read your life. A prophet is one who represents Me to others, therefore all My people are prophets, including you. I reveal that I will protect you when you confront evil, according to My will. I want you to encourage others. I want your words to build up others in their faith. When you feel that you are under attack, take refuge in Me. Don’t try to fight your own battles. I want you to speak boldly when confronting evil in the world. You show your heart for Me when you hate evil. The only thing you should fear in life is Me. Speak boldly for Me and against evil. My Holy Spirit gives you power to do this. Have faith that I am sovereign over all, including evil. I give believers many chances to repent. If you continue to make evil choices, I can harden your already evil heart. I hand unrepentant sinners over to their sins. If you are doing My will, you never need to fear Me hardening your heart. You are never to old to serve Me. You age is never an excuse to ignore My calling. As long as you are alive, I will still use you, if you let Me. Satan has real powers to deceive. False christ’s and false prophets will arise, and show signs and wonders, in order to mislead you. My Holy Spirit that is inside you, is stronger than Satan. Walk with Me, soak up My word, and worship Me, and this will help build you up against the enemy. I will right wrongs and judge sinners who refuse to repent. Do not take justice into your own hands. I want you to warn others, what awaits them, if they refuse to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I am sovereign over the false idols of mankind. You must renounce false gods in your life. The wicked will harden their hearts in the face of punishment. Those who refuse to repent, will become spiritually blind and numb to sin.

What this said to me is I am to continue building up others, and encouraging them for God. I am a prophet for God and others will be watching me, so my actions are important. I need to take refuge in God always, and not be afraid. I do not want my heart to be hardened, so I have to get rid of any idols in my life, and draw closer to Him. I need to be bold and courageous for Jesus.
